USA: Constellation Brands launches first new Corona brand in 29 years

Constellation Brands (CB) has started with its national roll out of Corona Premier, the first new Corona brand in the United States in the last 29 years. The No. 3 beer company in the United States announced in October last year that it had successfully tested a low carb version of the bestselling import in the U.S. for the past two decades. CB says, Corona Premier is “perfectly balanced with a touch of sweetness and a clean and pleasant dry finish”and an aroma of “fruit-honey with a touch of malt.” It also claims to be the smoothest, most drinkable Corona yet.

"Corona Premier capitalizes on industry and consumer trends including declines of domestic light beers, growth of high end and interest in new light beers that are premium and have badge value," the company said earlier.

Pricing of the product will be equal to Corona Extra and Corona Light, which is about 40% higher than the cost of other light beers, according to the Wall Street Journal. The product will be available nationwide in cans and bottles.
