Coopers Brewery, Australia's largest independent, family-owned brewery, has officially opened its new AUD 70 million (USD 47.5m) facility in Adelaide, marking a significant milestone in its 162-year history. The new development, located adjacent to the existing brewery in Regency Park, was revealed during a grand opening event attended by notable guests, including South Australian Governor Frances Adamson and members of the Cooper family.
The state-of-the-art facility aims to enhance the visitor experience and expand Coopers' craft beer and whisky production capabilities. It features a range of attractions, including a restaurant and three bars, an expansive outdoor plaza, a dedicated tasting room, a microbrewery, a whisky distillery, and an interactive history display. The facility also includes underground storage for 5,000 whisky barrels and a merchandise store, catering to both beer enthusiasts and casual visitors.
Coopers Managing Director, Dr. Tim Cooper, expressed excitement about the new facility, highlighting it as one of the most ambitious projects in the company's history. "We are proud to have created a unique and immersive experience that celebrates the best of Australian beer," he said. The brewery is also venturing into whisky production for the first time, utilizing custom-made copper stills from Scotland and its own malt produced on-site.
Peter Morelli, a well-respected figure in the Australian hospitality industry, has been appointed as venue manager, leading a team dedicated to delivering a memorable experience for up to 400 guests. The new facility also offers updated brewery tours, including special VIP options, with proceeds supporting the Coopers Foundation's charity work.
The public will be able to visit the new facility starting August 28, 2024, for tastings, meals, and tours.
