European beer star awarded

2,103 beers from 44 countries competed this year for medals of the internationally renowned European Beer Star awards. The 13th edition of the competition broke again a new record with 7% more participants compared to the previous year. The winning beers in 57 categories from 22 countries were awarded gold, silver and bronze at the prize-giving ceremony at the BrauBeviale fair in Nuremberg.

The Consumers' Favourite award, which is chosen by consumers from all gold medalists in a blind tasting session on the first day of the Brau Beviale trade show, was  given to:

Gold Medal: MC77- Birrificio Artigianale (Italy) for "Belgian-Style Witbier"
Silver Medal: Long Sun Brewing (Taiwan) for “South German-Style Hefeweizen Bernsteinfarben”
Bronze Medal : Kronenbrauerei Alfred Schimpf (Germany) for “South German-Style Weizenbock Dunkel”

The European Beer Star competition has been organised by the association Private Brauereien since 2004. It has long become one of the most important beer competitions in the world. European Beer Star prizes are awarded to high quality beers from all over the world, which are genuine and full of character. Consideration is given to types of beer which have their origins in Europe.
