German hop crop larger than expected

The preliminary results of the German hop crop show slightly higher results than the already record breaking estimates from one month ago. The German hop growers cooperative HVG and his CEO Dr. Johann Pichlmaier announced today that they see this year’s crop at 42.700 tons which is equivalent to 4,600 tons of alpha acid.

This will definitively end the tight supply after last year’s weather-hit crop in Germany, which left brewers all over the world struggling for enough hops.
