Germany: Giga Bier - “brewed for cyborgs, made by humans”

Tesla has launched a limited edition GigaBier, a pilsner-style brew made in Germany. The beer, that is “brewed for cyborgs, made by humans” went on sale online on Thursday, with boxes of three bottles at 330 ml each, costing EUR 89 or about USD 98.

The electric car company describes the beer itself of being brewed “with our exclusive strain of Cyberhops” and as having “notes of citrus, bergamot and sweet fruit”. Presented in a glossy black sleeve, the bottle is designed to emulate Tesla’s Cybertruck.

GigaBier is brewed in Berlin “honoring the 500-year tradition of German Reinheitsgebot beermaking,” according to Tesla. It was first announced and presented to the world in October 2021 to celebrate the opening of Tesla's Berlin Gigafactory.

Elon Musk, the founder and CEO of Tesla, forayed into the world of spirits earlier when he launched Tesla Tequila in 2020. The inventor wanted to call his new product Teslaquila but the name was too similar to the word tequila, according to the Tequila Regulatory Council (CRT), the entity responsible for regulating and authorizing all of the processes related to the manufacture, consumption, and trade of tequila.

Tesla tequila came in a bottle shaped like lightning and was aged for 15 months in French oak barrels featuring “a dry fruit and light vanilla nose with a balanced cinnamon pepper finish.”

Despite a price of USD 250 per bottle, the limited edition tequila that was sold out within hours. A second batch was released in April 2022, priced even higher at USD 420.

It has to be seen, if the new Giga Bier will be the same success as the Tesla Tequila.

Giga Bier is available only online and is shipped to 17 countries in Europe, including Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Spain, Switzerland and Norway.
