Twellium Industrial Company, known for producing non-alcoholic beverages such as its flagship Verna Mineral Water, is enhancing its production capacity with a new state-of-the-art PET packaging facility in Kumasi, Ghana. This new site marks a significant step forward for the company, expanding its reach beyond its current operations in Accra, Ghana, and Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso.
The Kumasi project began as a greenfield initiative, with Twellium building the facility from scratch, including civil works, infrastructure, and utilities. This new plant is designed to cater to a diverse range of beverage products, including water, carbonated soft drinks, non-carbonated beverages, and energy drinks, using different PET bottle sizes for greater production flexibility to meet growing consumer demand.
A highlight of the new facility is the claim of housing ‘Africa’s fastest’ complete PET water line, capable of producing 80,000 bottles per hour. The production line integrates blow moulding, filling, and capping. Additionally, the plant includes a water treatment room and an automated cleaning-in-place (CIP) system, which uphold high hygiene and food safety standards.
Sidel, a global packaging solutions provider, partnered with Twellium in installing two complete processing and packaging lines, including one dedicated to carbonated soft drinks with a production capacity of 65,000 bottles per hour. This line features a labeller equipped for applying QR codes on bottle caps for enhanced traceability, meeting Ghanaian regulatory requirements.
This investment bolsters Twellium’s position in the West African beverage market, meeting the region’s increasing demand for a variety of high-quality drinks while contributing to local employment and economic growth.
