Carlsberg Malawi has changed its name to Castle Malawi nearly one and a half years after the brewery changed hands. In August 2016 Danish Carlsberg Group sold its sole operation in Africa to French Groupe Castel, a privately owned beverage company, which is mainly engaged in France and Africa. Carlsberg Malawi was the first Carlsberg brewery outside of Denmark and started operations in 1968. The sale was part of Carlsberg’s seven-year strategy called SAIL’22.
Castel Malawi is a beverage company comprising of five soft drink bottling plants, a distillery and a brewery.
