Royal Swinkels has officially expanded its beverage portfolio beyond brewing, entering the non-alcoholic wine segment with the launch of its new brand, BarLoca. The Netherlands-headquartered company announced the debut of the alcohol-free canned wine via social media, highlighting a combination of the brewer's nearly 50 years of experience in dealcoholization and Italian winemaking traditions.
The new product line is produced using dealcoholized Italian wine and is available in three distinct varieties: Bianco, Rosato, and Rosso, all featuring a 0.0% alcohol by volume (ABV). BarLoca is packaged in 25 cl aluminum cans, a format chosen by the company to help minimize waste. Currently, the beverage is sold directly to consumers through the brand's official web shop at a suggested retail price of EUR 2.79 (USD 3.26) per can.
This diversification into the wine sector marks a notable step in the innovation journey for the family-owned enterprise. Historically known for its extensive beer and malt operations, including prominent brands such as Bavaria, La Trappe, and Rodenbach, the company has been actively reshaping its international footprint. Recent strategic moves include expanding its brewing capacity in Eastern Europe (inside.beer, 28.10.2024) while simultaneously streamlining its craft beer portfolio in its home market (inside.beer, 04.02.2025).
