Muntons, third largest malting group in UK with a strong malt ingredients business, has announced the appointment of Mark Tyldesley as Managing Director. He replaces Alan Ridealgh, who held the same position the last 11 years and who will in future perform a more ambassadorial role for the company on a part time basis as Vice President External Affairs after a half-year sabbatical.
Tyldesley joined Muntons eight months ago as deputy Managing Director and moved into his new role in January 2018. Being a graduate from the University of Nottingham he has previously held senior positions within P&G, Tesco and Premier Food.
Muntons is a manufacturer of malt and malted ingredients and has a combined malting capacity of 175,000 metric tons. The company produces 80,000 tons of malt at its company’s seat in Stowmarket in Suffolk, East Anglia, England, about 150 km north-east of the capital London. Another 95,000 tons of malt are being produced in Bridlington in East Yorkshire. The Stowmarket site also produces over 40,000 tons of malted ingredients for the food and beverage industries.
After the take-over of GlobalMalt with maltings in Germany and Poland Crisp Malting Group is the largest independent malsters in UK with a combined yearly capacity of 445,000 tons (thereof 250,000 tons in the UK). Family owned and led maltster Simpsons comes second with a total capacity of 286,000 tons in two plants in the UK.
