Dmytro Olijnyk, a Ukrainian businessman, and his partners have acquired a 78% majority stake in the regional brewery Chmelpywa located in the Khmelnytskyi region, Ukraine Business News reported. The purchase was made through the glass manufacturing company Kostopil Glass Plant, with plans to invest 250 million UAH (6 million USD) into the brewery’s development between 2025 and 2027. According to Olijnyk, the acquisition was strategically motivated by synergies between glass production and brewing. The investment will support a growth strategy focused on building the brand, opening proprietary retail outlets, and expanding its market share within the Khmelnytskyi region.
At the same time, one of Western Ukraine’s most prominent brewing companies, Opillia, is undertaking a large-scale expansion of its production facilities. By 2027, the company aims to boost its production capacity by 40%, backed by nearly 200 million UAH (4.75 million USD) in total investment. A key component of this plan is the establishment of a second plant in the Ternopil region, dedicated to non-alcoholic beverages. Since 2012, Opillia has invested over 1 billion UAH in its operations and currently has a monthly production volume of 6.5–7 million liters of beverages. The company is also exploring opportunities to expand its exports to the European Union.
These investments reflect growing investor confidence in Ukraine’s beverage sector, particularly in regions less affected by direct military conflict.
