Ukraine: War hinders beer and malt production

Ukraine’s beer production declined by 28.1% during the first three quarters of this year. As Ukrpivo reported today, the beer production in the country excluding zero-alcohol beer and brands below 0.5% ABV amounted to 11.32 million hectoliters. Malt production dropped during the same period by 19.9% to 156,392 tons.

The sharp decline follows Russian invasion of Ukraine on 24 February 2022 which destroyed wide parts of the country and led to a (temporary) shutdown of production facilities and the displacement of millions of people from their homes.
