USA: Beer Girl Secures Shark Tank Deal For Low-ABV Lager

Caroline Foulk, founder of Beer Girl, has secured a USD 125,000 investment for a 20% equity stake from Fawn Weaver, founder of Uncle Nearest, a Tennessee-based whiskey brand honoring Nathan “Nearest” Green, the first known African-American master distiller who taught Jack Daniel to distill.

The successful pitch has recently aired on Shark Tank Season 17. Shark Tank is a widely recognized U.S. business reality TV show in which entrepreneurs pitch their companies to a panel of high-profile investors in exchange for equity financing. Participation often delivers a significant boost in brand visibility and sales, commonly referred to as the “Shark Tank effect.”

The deal highlights growing investor interest in lower-alcohol, health-conscious beer alternatives within the evolving beverage market.

Founded in 2023 by Caroline Foulk and her husband Griffin Foulk, the Laguna Beach-based company positions itself as a modern response to shifting consumer preferences. The brand offers a Mexican-style light lager with 3.5% ABV, zero sugar, and a gluten-reduced recipe brewed with corn instead of wheat. The concept targets consumers seeking a more balanced lifestyle without sacrificing the social and sensory aspects of beer.

The company officially entered broader distribution in 2024 after early traction through on-premise sales at a family-operated brewery. Its proposition—combining lower alcohol content with reduced calories and no added sugar—aligns with one of the fastest-growing segments in the beer category.

During the televised pitch, Foulk emphasized her personal experience in the brewing industry and the lack of suitable lighter options that avoid bloating while maintaining flavor. The emotional response captured in subsequent social media content underlines the significance of the partnership with Weaver, whose own entrepreneurial journey added resonance to the deal.

The investment not only provides capital but also strategic support as Beer Girl aims to scale distribution and strengthen its position in the competitive “better-for-you” beer segment. The exposure from Shark Tank is expected to further accelerate brand awareness and sales following the broadcast.

The positive momentum surrounding the Beer Girl deal is, however, overshadowed by developments involving Fawn Weaver and her husband Keith Weaver. In March 2026, the founders of Uncle Nearest attempted to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in an effort to restructure debt and address a USD 102.6 million dispute with lender Farm Credit Mid-America. The filing was subsequently dismissed by a Tennessee court, which ruled that the founders lacked the authority to initiate bankruptcy proceedings while the company was under court-appointed receivership.
