USA: Boston Beer Co. CEO Martin Roper to retire next year

CEO Martin Roper announced his plans to retire next year after leading Boston Beer Co. for more than 17 years.  He said he has advised the Board of Directors a year in advance "to assure a very smooth transition and a full and thorough search process for my replacement.” He stressed the fact he will remain "fully engaged and committed to leading the business as CEO until a successor is found and a seamless transition is completed." 

Roper joined Boston Beer Co. as Vice President of Manufacturing and Business Development in September 1994 and became President of the Company in December 1999 before he was appointed Boston Beer’s Chief Executive Officer in January 2001.
