USA: Brewers Association cancels one of its signature events

After 14 years, the Brewers Association (BA) is canceling SAVOR, the organization’s annual food and beer pairing event. SAVOR was one of the BA’s four signature events, such as the Great American Beer Festival (GABF), Craft Brewers Conference (CBC), and the American Homebrewers Association’s HomebrewCon. A hallmark of SAVOR was that each brewery was represented in person by its brewers and/or brewery owners.

After being paused during the COVID pandemic, 2022 was the first year the BA hosted SAVOR, GABF, and HomebrewCon in person since 2019.In 2022, small and independent craft brewers served a diverse range of more than 225 beers. The ticket price for a standard visitor was USD 139 each.

However, the BA announced today that “after 14 delicious years, it’s time for SAVOR™: An American Craft Beer & Food Experience to hang up its apron, making 2022 the event’s final year.” A BA spokesperson said the event was “canceled due to various factors, including rising operational costs.”

Instead of the canceled event, the BA invites everybody for the much smaller event PAIRED. The event combines “uniquely designed small bites perfectly paired with craft beer” at the Great American Beer Festival Sept. 21-22, 2023, in Denver, Colorado. PAIRED showcases 25 craft beers, “each one paired with a small plate that will tantalize the tastebuds and dazzle the palate.”
