USA: Mark Anthony Brewing builds USD 250 million plant in Arizona

Mark Anthony Brewing, a division of The Mark Anthony Groupof Companies, one of North America's most diversified and successful private beverage companies focused on the beverage alcohol sector, announced on Friday to build its new state-of-the-art brewery and BrewPure facility in Glendale, Arizona.

Mark Anthony Brewing plans to invest more than USD 250 million in the new plant that includes the unique BrewPure process which is used to produce White Claw Hard Seltzer, Mike’s Hard Lemonade, Mike’s Harder Lemonade and Cayman Jack Cocktails.

"In a race against time, to meet the explosive demand for White Claw Hard Seltzer, the new 916,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility will be up and running in under seven months," according to the Arizona Commerce Authority. "In other markets, projects like this can take years.”

“We know it is a very aggressive construction schedule, but our team is prepared to rise to the challenge,” said Glendale City Manager Kevin Phelps. “Our development team has been working closely with Mark Anthony Brewing and have a plan in place to ensure we meet their timeline. We are thrilled to welcome this project and the additional investment to the city.”

“The primary reason we selected Glendale was the innovative thinking and personal support of Governor Doug Ducey, the city of Glendale, the Arizona Commerce Authority, and their willingness to embrace our vision and commit to the support required for our rapid build-out and aggressive timeline,” said Mark Anthony Brewing President John Sacksteder.

In November, Anthony von Mandl, founder and CEO of Mark Anthony Brands announced to spend USD 385 million on a new production site at a still-undisclosed location in New Jersey, which he intended to build “in seven months or less” (inside.beer, 28.11.2019). Shortly later the company started hiring staff for a brewery in Hillside, New Jersey.

In November Mandl also said, he had identified two more locations and was prepared to invest an additional half a billion dollars on it. One of them is apparently the newly announced site in Glendale, Arizona.

Founded in 1972, The Mark Anthony Group of Companies grew organically from a one man wine importing business to a producer and distributor of fine wine, spirits, premium beer, and today is the largest Flavored Malt Beverage (FMB) Company in the United States with a portfolio of leading brands, including Mike’s Hard Lemonade, Palm Breeze Spritz, Cayman Jack Margarita, White Claw Hard Seltzer and T.G.I. Friday’s premium ready-to-serve cocktails. The company’s founder & CEO Anthony von Mandl is also the proprietor of VMF Estates, a collection of prestigious wineries and estate vineyards including the award-winning Mission Hill Family Estate, CedarCreek Estate Winery, Martin’s Lane Winery and CheckMate Artisanal Winery in British Columbia’s Okanagan Valley. In addition, the company distributes many leading wine, spirits and beer brands, providing seamless services from producer to consumer across Canada.

A cornerstone of the Company's success is the ability to innovate and create distinctive brands that are available across Canada and the United States.

In the United States, the Mark Anthony Group pioneered the flavored malt beverage category with the launch of Mike's Hard Lemonade in 1999. Today, Mike's has achieved iconic brand status and is the category leader. The group aims to capture a 10% share of beer dollar sales in the U.S. “as fast as possible.”
