Mahou San Miguel is expanding beyond beer with the launch of its first coffee brand, Café 170, which will reach the Spanish market in January 2026. The brand targets the hospitality sector and will initially be distributed through the company’s own network Voldis.
Café 170 is part of Mahou’s newly established Coffee Business Unit, which operates under the brewer’s broader diversification strategy. This unit was formed in parallel with Barista & Finca, a coffee-focused subsidiary created in July 2025 to explore “emerging categories that complement our current portfolio,” according to Expansión and Just Drinks.
The Coffee Business Unit is led by Jesús Gómez Cáceres, who stated that Mahou aims “to offer a unique value proposition in the world of coffee, designed especially for the hotel and catering industry.” He described Café 170 as combining “excellence, innovation in service and a modern and differentiating identity.”
Peio Arbeloa, general business manager of Mahou San Miguel, emphasized that the move into coffee “perfectly complements our current portfolio and will allow us to be even more present in the moments of enjoyment that our consumers share in bars and restaurants.” Arbeloa added that entering the category represents “a great opportunity to consolidate ourselves as an integral partner for the hospitality industry.”
According to Expansión and eInforma, Barista & Finca is engaged in the production and distribution of coffee, tea, cocoa infusions, spices, and related products, including import, export, and marketing activities. With Café 170 and Barista & Finca*, Mahou San Miguel is reinforcing its diversification beyond beer and positioning itself as a comprehensive supplier for Spain’s hospitality market.
