The Boston Beer Company, maker of the iconic Samuel Adams beer, has taken another step to solidify its presence in Cincinnati. The company recently acquired over an acre of land in the city’s West End near its Samuel Adams Brewery. The deal, valued at nearly USD 4 million, includes more than half a dozen parcels comprising industrial buildings and vacant land, according to Hamilton County property records.
The largest acquisition in the purchase is a former manufacturing building, which was sold for USD 3.44 million. This site lies just a few blocks from the brewery, which serves as the main production facility for Samuel Adams beers.
Boston Beer Company has stated that the newly acquired land will support its ongoing investments in the Cincinnati brewery. Boston Beer purchased the former Hudepohl-Schoenling Brewery in 1997. Cincinnati is the hometown of Boston Beer’s co-founder and chairman, Jim Koch, and the brewery holds special significance as it was where his father apprenticed in the 1940s.
According to Brittany Zahoruiko, Senior Manager of Communications, "The purchase of additional land in the West End is part of our overall investment in the Samuel Adams Cincinnati Brewery that is intended to help streamline operations and create efficiencies throughout the brewing, packaging, and shipping processes."
The Boston Beer Company is one of the largest craft brewers in the United States. In addition to its flagship Samuel Adams brand, its portfolio includes Truly Hard Seltzer, Twisted Tea, and Angry Orchard Hard Cider.
