Budějovický Budvar, the Czech Republic's national brewery, has achieved another production milestone, brewing a record 1.927 million hectoliters of beer in 2024, representing a 3.3% year-over-year increase. This marks the second consecutive year of record production, reflecting the brewery’s consistent growth both domestically and internationally.
Over 70% of the brewery's production was exported to more than 70 countries, with export volumes increasing by 4%. The brewery strengthened its presence in key markets such as Germany, Poland, Slovakia, and the United Kingdom while expanding to new regions, including New Zealand and Cambodia. Domestically, sales grew by 1.7%, demonstrating strong demand even in markets where overall beer consumption is declining.
Petr Dvořák, CEO of Budějovický Budvar, credited the success to the company’s long-term strategy. “The results show that our approach is correct. We have managed to grow both at home and abroad, even in markets with declining beer consumption,” Dvořák said.
In addition to its core production, the brewery collaborated with local craft breweries in the Czech Republic, releasing four limited-edition beers in partnership with Zlatá Kráva, Dva Kohouti, Cobolis, and Lucky Bastard.
The brewery’s economic contribution to the state remained substantial, with CZK 550 million (approximately USD 24.8 million) paid to the government in 2024, supporting medium-sized livestock farms. The brewery plans to remit CZK 500 million in 2025, as outlined in the national budget.
These achievements follow a strong performance in 2023, when the brewery produced 1.865 million hectoliters of beer, achieved a 46.3% increase in net profit, and recorded revenues of CZK 3.37 billion.
With its continued expansion and innovation, Budějovický Budvar remains a cornerstone of Czech brewing tradition and a significant player in the global beer market.
