India: AB InBev Expands Telangana Brewery Capacity

India’s beer market is set for another capacity boost as AB InBev confirmed plans to expand its existing brewery in Telangana, underlining the country’s growing strategic importance for global brewers. The announcement followed meetings between the Telangana state delegation, led by Revanth Reddy, and senior representatives of the brewing group on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos.

The expansion will be carried out at AB InBev’s current facility in the state, with the project aimed at supporting rising domestic demand and strengthening local supply capabilities. While no investment volume or additional capacity figures were disclosed, the move aligns with AB InBev’s broader strategy to deepen its manufacturing footprint in key growth markets.

The Telangana government positioned the investment as part of its wider push to attract multinational manufacturers in food and beverages, highlighting the state’s industrial infrastructure, regulatory environment, and access to consumer markets. Officials emphasized that the expansion would support employment and reinforce Telangana’s role as a brewing hub within India.

For AB InBev, which already operates several breweries across the country, the Telangana project signals continued confidence in India despite regulatory complexity and state-level market fragmentation. Industry observers note that capacity additions are increasingly focused on optimizing existing sites rather than greenfield projects, reflecting a more measured but committed expansion strategy.
