UK: Greene King reports weaker sales and rising costs

Greene King, UK's largest pub retailer and brewer reported a 1.2% fall in like for like sales in the 18 weeks to September 3 and warned weak consumer confidence and rising costs were set to continue

The Bury St Edmunds company, which runs more than 2,900 pubs and restaurants and also brews beers such as Greene King IPA, Old Speckled Hen and Abbot Ale, also pointed to increased competition from rivals.
