USA: CANarchy strikes second deal in a little more than one month

CANarchy Craft Brewery Collective, a group of craft breweries which was recently ranked #9 in term of sales volume on the Brewers Association’s list of the Top 50 U.S. Craft Brewers, has stroke its second deal in little more than one month. Three Weavers Brewing Company, one of the largest independent craft breweries in Los Angeles County, today announces a strategic partnership with the brewing group, which is majority owned by Boston based private equity firm Fireman Capital Partners.

Financial details of the deal were not revealed. However, Brewbound reported that about a dozen investors exchanged their equity in Three Weavers for shares of the larger Canarchy entity and the group paid off “any of the debt” that Three Weavers took on to build its brewery.

In June, CANarchy already announced that it had signed an agreement to buy Deep Ellum Brewing from Dallas, Texas. (inside.beer, 12.6.2018)

Three Weavers was established in 2013 by Lynne Weaver and named after Lynne’s three young daughters. The brewery produced last year 5,420 barrels (6,360 hl, +93%) and plans to double its output again this year.

“Our decision to join the CANarchy collective spans far beyond us as a single craft brewery. It’s about supporting our independence and continuing to champion the fight for all craft breweries with a similar goal. It's also about living our mission – it’s more than beer, it’s community – and supporting the current craft crusade,” said Weaver.

“We founded CANarchy with the goal of bringing together like-minded breweries, supporting their growth and respective missions, and building a hyper-local presence in the largest markets in the U.S.,” said Matt Fraser, CANarchy President. “With their focus on quality craft beer and commitment to both independence and community, we believe Three Weavers Brewing Company is a perfect addition to the CANarchy collective and I am excited to partner with Three Weavers Founder, Lynne Weaver, in the coming years.”

“With the addition of Three Weavers, the CANarchy portfolio expands its reach across the U.S., from the East Coast to the West Coast, with leading regional breweries in California, Colorado, Florida, Michigan, North Carolina, Texas, and Utah. The aggressively growing collective provides a platform from which rapidly growing craft breweries seeking high level resources can expand and compete in the increasingly competitive craft beer segment, while maintaining their independence. Driven by individual brewery culture, CANarchy enables brewers to maintain control of their businesses and brands while providing the resources and support to scale their respective operations,” the company said in a statement.

Founded in 2015, CANarchy is a disruptive collective of like-minded brewers dedicated to bringing quality and innovative flavors to beer drinkers in the name of independent craft beer. The portfolio of craft breweries includes Oskar Blues BreweryPerrin Brewing CompanyCigar City BrewingSquatters Craft Beer and Wasatch Brewery, Deep Ellum Brewing Company and newly added Three Weavers Brewing Company.
