USA: Disneyland to open its first-ever on-site brewery

Disneyland will get its first-ever on-site brewery. Ballast Point Brewing, since November 2015 part of Constellation Brands announced to open a three-barrel R&D brewery, restaurant and beer garden at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California. The new complex will be 7,300 square feet (678 square meters) and is scheduled to open before the end of 2018.

The opening also marks a turn in Disney’s restrictive policy towards alcohol. So far no alcohol was sold in Disneyland Park itself, except in Club 33, a members-only restaurant and jazz lounge. Disney California Adventure, another part of Disneyland Resort which opened in 2001, the Disney-owned hotels, and Downtown Disney serve also alcohol in some restricted places.

“As one of Southern California’s premier brewers, for the team at Ballast Point, we couldn’t be more honored to work with such an icon in our great state and become the first brewer at Downtown Disney,” Marty Birkel, president of Ballast Point Brewing, said in a statement. “We hope SoCal locals and visitors alike will enjoy the wonderful atmosphere, seasonal cuisine, and good cheer (and beer) of our signature tap room experience that we plan to bring to Downtown Disney.”

Ballast Point Brewing Company is an American brewery founded in 1996 by Jack White in San Diego, California. Ballast Point Brewing Co. started in the back of Home Brew Mart, a homebrew supply store White founded in 1992. As of 2015, it was the second largest brewer in San Diego County and the 17th largest brewery in the country based on sales volume. The company's main production facility is in Miramar. It also has brewery locations in San Diego's Little Italy and Scripps Ranch neighborhoods, as well as its original Home Brew Mart location in San Diego's Linda Vista neighborhood. In 2017, Ballast Point opened its first East Coast brewing facility in Daleville, Virginia, near Roanoke. (Source Wikipedia)
