UK: Corona Extra Regains Title as World's Most Valuable Beer Brand

Corona Extra has reclaimed its title as the world's most valuable beer brand, according to the 2024 Brand Finance Beers 50 report. With a staggering 40% increase in brand value to USD 10.4 billion, Corona surpassed Heineken (USD 9.0 billion) to secure the top spot, solidifying its iconic status in the global beer market. Earlier this year, Corona achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first beer brand to sponsor the Paris 2024 Olympics with Corona Cero (inside.beer, 12.1.2024). This move underscores the brand's strategic initiatives, which have not only enhanced its consumer appeal but also elevated its brand recognition and reputation.

Last year, Heineken surpassed Corona Extra which led the ranking for the past four years (inside.beer, 14.11.2023).

Despite prevailing economic challenges, the majority of brands in Brand Finance's top 10 experienced growth in brand value. Only Bud Light and Kirin saw declines.

Bud Light's decline from USD5.95 billion in 2023 to USD5.43 billion in 2024 was largely attributed to the fallout from the controversial campaign featuring transgender starlet Dylan Mulvaney (inside.beer, 14.4.2023). Similarly, Kirin saw a decrease from USD3.16 billion to USD3.13 billion, securing its positions as fourth and ninth, respectively.

Henry Farr, Associate Director at Brand Finance, noted, "Corona's resurgence reaffirms its dominance and reflects evolving consumer preferences for premium, quality offerings. It underscores a broader trend in the beer industry, where brands prioritizing quality and innovation are setting new standards."

The Brand Finance report also evaluates brands based on their Brand Strength Index (BSI), with Corona experiencing a 3.9-point surge to achieve a score of 85.9 out of 100, ranking as the third-strongest brand globally.

China's Tsingtao, with a 21% increase in brand value to US$2.6 billion, emerged as the world's strongest beer brand, boasting a BSI score of 87.0 out of 100. Tsingtao's robust presence both domestically and internationally, with products available in over 100 countries, solidifies its position as a powerhouse in the global beer industry.
