A major fire broke out early on December 1 at the Hanoi Brewery, operated by Habeco in Hanoi, triggering a large emergency response and raising concerns about production disruption at one of Vietnam’s most prominent brewing sites.
According to Báo Hải Phòng, the fire started inside a two-storey building within the brewery complex in the early morning hours. Thick black smoke rose dozens of metres into the air, alarming residents in the surrounding residential area located close to the plant. Local authorities confirmed that the fire originated on the upper floor of the building and spread quickly due to the presence of flammable materials.
The Hanoi Police Fire and Rescue Department dispatched seven fire trucks and nearly 50 firefighters from several units to prevent the blaze from spreading to adjacent workshops, warehouses and nearby homes. Firefighters managed to bring the situation under control within roughly one hour and fully extinguished the fire later in the morning.
Officials from the Ngoc Ha ward confirmed that no injuries were reported. However, the affected building was severely damaged, with reports indicating that the structure was largely destroyed. Traffic on a nearby street was temporarily disrupted during the operation as emergency services secured the area.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
