Germany: Beviale Summit cancelled

The Beviale Summit, which was to replace the traditional Brau Beviale trade show this year due to the COVID 19 pandemic, was canceled at short notice less than a week before the event was to begin. The meeting was “supposed to bring together the beverage industry on November 9 and 10, 2021 in the Nuremberg Exhibition Center as the first comprehensive event in a long time”, according to the organizers. The focus was to be on information, exchange, networking and impulses for sustainable action and included various conferences, the presentation of sponsors and the European Beer Star awards ceremony.

However, the concrete participant registrations by the end of October fell well short of expectations.

“As a sufficient number of participants for a broad, qualified exchange of experiences can no longer be guaranteed until the start of the event, the organizers are forced to cancel the pilot event for the Beviale Summit,” the official statement reads. “All current organizers as well as the sponsors regret this cancellation extremely, but respect the vote of the potential participants not to take advantage of the Beviale Summit's offer. At the same time, we would like to expressly thank the organizers to everyone who had already decided to participate. Tickets that have already been purchased will of course be refunded,” the statement ends.

The cancellation was not well received among sponsors and participants who had already prepared for the event. Especially the short notice of the cancellation was criticized and the fact that many of the involved people were not informed directly by the organizers but had to read the news in the press. Another complaint is that the conference fee for the Beviale Summit was too high, which is why many potential visitors decided not to attend.

Since the organizers of Drinktec have already announced that the next show will be held in Munich from September 12 to 16, 2022, and a survey of potential exhibitors has shown that they are highly unlikely to participate in two trade shows in Germany in the same year, the Brau Beviale will probably take another year off and not return until 2023.
