Hijos de Rivera, the company behind Estrella Galicia, has invested in Catalan craft brewer BdeGust, founded in 2019 by Blanca Costa and Luis Bori, strengthening its position in the high-end craft beer segment while advancing its sustainability agenda.
BdeGust produces organic beers using its own ingredients and is built around a social inclusion model that integrates people at risk of exclusion into its workforce through employment and training programmes. The brewery has established a strong presence in premium on-trade channels, including Michelin-starred restaurants and five-star hotels.
The company will become part of Craft Partners, Hijos de Rivera’s platform for independent craft breweries. Within this ecosystem, BdeGust joins other Spanish craft players such as Tyris (inside.beer, 19.07.2024) and Basqueland (inside.beer, 10.04.2025), which were integrated in recent years as part of the group’s expansion.
BdeGust’s portfolio includes BdeGust Lager, BdeGust Gluten-Free Wheat Beer, BdeGust Hazy IPA and BdeGust Pastry Stout, the latter featuring ingredients such as biscuits, chocolate and hazelnuts, underlining its positioning in the premium and specialty segment.
According to Francisco Ucha, general manager of Hijos de Rivera, the partnership reflects a shared vision of combining product excellence with meaningful social impact. The group intends to provide resources and operational support to scale the business while preserving its distinct identity and mission.
The investment is aligned with Hijos de Rivera’s broader “Positive Impact” strategy, following its certification as a B Corp in 2024. It also fits into the company’s 2025–2027 strategic cycle, which focuses on global “big craft” expansion and sustainable growth.
Financially, the group continues to show solid momentum, reporting record revenue of EUR 886 million in 2024, representing a 6.9% increase year-on-year, supporting further investments in capacity, portfolio diversification and internationalisation.
